
Brandee M. Butler is a Terras Tuscany attendee and the CEO of the Institute for Human Rights and Business, a global think tank promoting a just and regenerative economy. A lawyer, human rights advocate, and philanthropic strategist with over two decades of experience, Brandee has held senior leadership roles across international foundations, civil society, and the private sector.
She previously served as Deputy and Interim CEO at the Fund for Global Human Rights, Director of the Civil Liberties Division at the Open Society Initiative for Europe, and led human rights and gender justice efforts at the C&A (now Laudes) Foundation. Earlier in her career, she managed programming across Europe, the Middle East, and Africa at the Levi Strauss Foundation and worked with UNICEF in West and Central Africa as a Yale Law School Bernstein Fellow. She also served at the MacArthur Foundation funding international justice initiatives.
Brandee currently sits on the board of Just Associates (JASS), a feminist movement-building organisation, on the International Advisory Council of Global Witness, and serves as a Senior Advisor to Ariadne, a European network of human rights and social justice funders. She holds a JD from Yale Law School and a BA with honours from Harvard University. She is based in Barcelona.
