
Marcello Palazzi is a Terras Tuscany attendee and a civic economist, entrepreneur, and co-founder of B Lab Europe. With over 40 years of experience across business, civil society, philanthropy, public policy, and academia, Marcello has dedicated his career to advancing the role of entrepreneurship as a driver of human progress.
Marcello founded the Progressio Foundation in 1989, through which he has launched 35 ventures and projects across 33 countries, reaching over 45,000 leaders. His work spans founding and co-founding organizations including the For Good Leaders Foundation, NOW Partners, Future Economy Forum, the Andromeda Fund, and SVN Europe. He has served as a strategist for organizations including SNV, FMO, FSG Social Impact, and Danone North America, and as a partner to the United Nations through HABITAT, UNEP, UNDP, UNESCO, and ILO.
Marcello began his entrepreneurial career at 23, expanding his family firm Marton Diagnostics across global markets before selling it in 1993. He coined the terms "civic economy" and "civic enterprise" and authored "Towards the Civic Economy" and "Economy as the Good Ordering of Interests." He has also convened initiatives including Bioneers Europe, Authentic Leadership Europe, and the For Good Leaders Summits.
He holds a BSc and MSc in Economics, and an MBA, with studies at Buckingham, LSE, London Business School, Erasmus, MIT, and Oxford Said. He is a Harvard Advanced Leadership Initiative Fellow (2013), MIT Visiting Scholar (2014), and Stanford DCI Fellow (2015).
