Valerie Smith

Valerie Smith is the Chief Sustainability Officer at Citi and was a speaker at Terras New York 2025, where she joined Michael Kobori, former Chief Sustainability Officer at Starbucks, for a debate on The Rise and Fall of Corporate Capital. At Citi, Valerie oversees the global Sustainability and ESG team, leading the bank’s Sustainable Progress Strategy and $1 Trillion Sustainable Finance Goal, and guiding the development of Citi’s Net Zero Emissions by 2050 plan. She also directs ESG disclosure and governance, including TCFD reporting, and serves as a global spokesperson on sustainable finance, climate change, and ESG integration.
